O Tribunal Regional Eleitoral de Rondônia foi instalado no dia 31 de março de 1982, sendo os Desembargadores Darci Ferreira e Hélio Fonseca os primeiros Presidente e Vice-Presidente.
O Tribunal iniciou suas atividades com apenas 13 servidores, todos requisitados de outros órgãos públicos dos Governos Federal e Estadual. Coube a estes pioneiros a exitosa realização da primeira eleição do Estado de Rondônia
